About
The Community Learning and Language Initiative, is a digital community learning center.
We build and host cohort-based learning programs that inspire lifelong learning and create opportunities to practice critical thinking and communication skills.
Our History
As an educator, Cade Alexander studied the history of schooling and experienced its realities firsthand. He saw how traditional systems often fall short in preparing students for life beyond the classroom. At the same time, he witnessed the transformative power of education that creates lifelong learners, individuals who think critically, communicate effectively, and engage meaningfully with the world around them.
In 2020, a global pandemic accelerated a growing sense of loneliness, polarization, and uncertainty. This moment sparked a deeper question: how can we do learning and community better? That question launched a multi-year journey of exploration, working with diverse communities as both a teacher and community developer. Through this work, Cade began to reimagine what education and connection could look like.
From that vision, the Community Learning and Language Initiative (CLALI) was formed. CLALI exists to address these modern challenges through community-based learning, bringing people together to grow, connect, and take meaningful action.
Through engaging and empowering learning programs, CLALI is equipping participants with the skills, confidence, and perspective needed to face today’s challenges head on and to help build stronger, more connected communities for the future.
CLALI's
Mission
We create engaging learning experiences that empower communities to think critically, communicate effectively, and solve problems sustainably.
At CLALI, our mission is to design meaningful learning experiences that help individuals grow as communicators, thinkers, and contributors to their communities. We believe that learning should be active, relevant, and rooted in real-life challenges.
Through our cohort-based programs and interactive methodology, we create spaces where learners engage in dialogue, explore ideas, and apply what they learn in practical ways. Each experience is designed to be personalized, collaborative, and grounded in connection.
We see community learning as a powerful force for change. Whether within CLALI cohorts or in partnership with organizations, our work aims to strengthen communication, deepen understanding, and equip people with the tools to navigate and address the challenges they face.
By building these learning environments, CLALI contributes to more connected, capable, and sustainable communities.
We envision a world where empowered individuals become lifelong learners, critical thinkers, and capable communicators, building thriving and sustainable communities.

Our Values
Be a Better Energy
We commit to showing up each day with intention, growth, and positivity. Through continuous learning and reflection, we strive to improve ourselves and contribute better energy to the people and communities around us.
Problems Are Opportunities
We view challenges as opportunities to learn, adapt, and improve. Obstacles are not setbacks, but moments to reassess, think critically, and take meaningful action toward better solutions.
Everyone Can Learn
We believe learning is both a right and a lifelong capacity within every person. With the right environment, support, and mindset, anyone can grow, develop, and expand their understanding of the world.
Our Team
Cade Alexander
Learning Facilitator
Cade (he/they/she) has spent the past decade working as an educator in many different environments - private tutoring, public schools, corporate training, and nonprofit program development. Their focus has centered on professional development, community building, and language education (English and Spanish).
More than anything, Cade is a lifelong learner. They believe that the best teachers are also students of the world - constantly learning, questioning, and adapting. Through CLALI, Cade hopes to share that philosophy and empower others to grow in knowledge, ability, and community.
